For a time!

After a lot of thought and prayers, I have decided to take a step back from Blogging for a while.  This
has not been an easy decision to make.  I have met some of the most wonderful friends that I have ever had.

Some simple projects that I have been working on since the first of the year.

If you go onto Instagram, you can find me there.....@vpquilter.   I hope that you can all understand that I can not take the time to write postings for my blog right now.  Please keep in touch either on IG or by the email address in my profile.

So this is not good bye, this is just until we can get everything straightened out with the Doctors.

Thanks for all of the love and support over the last 2 years.

hugs and kisses.....Vicki

Another request from my favorite daughter!

I am always so thrilled when people say exactly what they want when requesting that I make them something.  My daughter did just that!  She is an avid reader and a total cat lover, so, she found the perfect fabric in my stash, and requested a purse.  As most of you know, I don't use patterns, so I set out to make exactly what she asked for.

The bag ended up pretty straight forward.  I wanted to do straight line quilting, so I used painters tape to mark off the line to get started.  Easy-peasy!

I used woven belting for the handles.  I made them slant in to the center just a bit.  If you do this, there isn't the gap in the middle when you hold it by the handles or over your shoulder.  I started off at 2 1/2 in. in from the bottom and ended up at 3 1/2 in. in from the top corner.     I stopped sewing about 2 1/2in. from the top of the bag.

I do love my Clover Wonder Clips!

These are bits and pieces of upholstery fabrics samples that I received last year.  It measures approx. 15 x 14 x 4.  She carries several books at a time in her purses.

She picked out the lining as well.  She wanted a full width zipper pocket with two good sized pleated slit pockets and no closure at the top.

This brown fabric feels like leather!  Soft and squishy.  She requested no purse feet.

A side view.  She loves it and uses it all of the time!

A scrappy little 'Across the Pond Pouch'!

This is one of my favorite little pouch patterns!  It is fast and easy.  This was a free pattern by Moda from 'Cabbages & Rose'.  Christa from Christa Quilts sent me a box of scraps from which to choose the fabric!

Again I went through the scraps from Christa and found some solids and different colors of  'architecture'.

Made a piece of 'fabric' and cut out the pattern.  I used painters tape to mark straight lines for a grid pattern.

I think this little bag is perfect for small sewing notions or sunglasses.  So many uses, just use your imagination!

I have started to make these little personalized pulls lately.  I have admired them on blogs for a while.  They are fun!

I hope you enjoy this little bag Christa!  Thank you again for the wonderful scraps.

Love retreats and love winning!

Last February I went to a retreat at Bass Lake California.

It was beautiful and so much fun.  They had a block exchange, and I won 13 blocks!  My dear friend Dotty, sitting there on the right, won 12 blocks.  We decided to combine our blocks and make a quilt for MCC...the organization that I sew most of my projects for.  (See info above in the "Who are "Who are MCC & MDS?" tab)

We needed only to add a few more squares, have it professionally quilted and then I got to bind it.  Now it is done and ready to go up for auction at this years sale!!  The sale is held at Fresno Pacific University on April 10 & 11.  Thanks to all the ladies from "Quilting in the Pines"!!
